Join our growing Chess team for the chance to represent the College
The College offers a thriving chess program for boys who are beginners to those more experienced. Chess teams include Seniors, Intermediates and Juniors. The College plays in the Combined Associated Schools (CAS) competition and in the Secondary Schools competition.
St Aloysius' College competes in both the CAS and Sydney Metropolitan Chess competitions. Students can join the Chess program by attending the training sessions. Teams are made up of four players and played in grades.
Junior Grade (Years 7 and 8)
- Intermediate Grade (Years 9 and 10)
- Senior Grade (Years 11 and 12)
The NSW Junior Chess League’s Metropolitan Secondary Schools Competition is a weekly teams competition for secondary schools in the Sydney Metropolitan area. The competition runs during Terms II and III with matches scheduled on a home-and-away basis and are played on Fridays after school.
Students can continue to develop their skills through utilising the coaching available on Tuesday afternoon regardless of selection in the competition teams.
